The essence of bargaining isn’t the transaction – it’s the conversation and human connection.

Join our WAFFA Fireside chat on Thursday September 29th with Mori Taheripour, a beloved Wharton Professor (and WG!), and a world renowned and award-winning expert on negotiations. Mori teaches negotiation and dispute resolution at Wharton (some of the most popular classes at the school) and focuses on the human side of negotiating. She is a master negotiator whose techniques have been implemented by all types of leaders, from sports executives to Fortune 500 CEOs.

We negotiate throughout the day in life and work with ourselves, family and friends, our colleagues – in fact, bargaining plays a crucial role in every aspect of our lives. We’ve often been told that the best negotiator is the toughest person in the room. Examples of negotiations (and negotiators) that we most often see are contentious, win-lose, hard charging and void of emotion.

Mori will be discussing her book “Bring Yourself: How to Harness the Power of Connection to Negotiate Fearlessly” in which she challenges the conventional wisdom around negotiation and offers a radically different perspective. She makes the case that the best negotiators are curious, empathetic and often the best listeners in the room, “Our superpower is our ability to have emotional intelligence in a conversation.” She coaches people to lead conversations with an open mind and figure out what feels right—and enough—for them. Mori will offer advice that we can draw from to be more confident as we navigate our professional and personal lives
